Gabrielle Thandiwe Bates (b.2003) is an African-American artist originally from Atlanta, GA and works in Manhattan, NY. She is currently studying towards her Bachelors of Fine Arts at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts with a minor in Africana Studies.

Her artistic influence draws from her African American experience and South African (Zulu) heritage. This unique blend of influences enriches her photographs making them not just images, but powerful narratives of a black experience. Primarily focusing on the practice of storytelling and the power it holds. Gabrielle invites the audience to see the world through her eyes, into a world where beauty, culture, and nature converge.
